Third-Party Notices

Scope: Windows packages that include Typst 0.15.1

Windows packages with Typst include the TeXBB executable, runtime artwork, factory document templates, a separately executed Typst compiler, and its license, notice, and source materials. Older installed versions may not include Typst. The notices supplied with your installed version describe the components in that package.

1. Microsoft Windows and .NET Framework

TeXBB uses APIs supplied by Microsoft Windows and the Microsoft .NET Framework. Those system components are not redistributed in the standard TeXBB package and remain governed by Microsoft's terms.

Microsoft Store installations with Typst also use the Visual C++ desktop runtime supplied as a Microsoft Store framework dependency. That framework remains governed by Microsoft's terms; it is not relicensed as part of TeXBB's open-source notices.

2. MathJax

TeXBB-generated Markdown previews may request MathJax 2.7.9 from the jsDelivr content-delivery network at runtime. MathJax is not copied into the standard TeXBB for Windows package. MathJax is available under the Apache License 2.0.

3. External LaTeX and revision tools are not bundled

TeXBB can locate and invoke separately installed tools, including TeX Live, MiKTeX, Tectonic, latexmk, pdfLaTeX, XeLaTeX, LuaLaTeX, and latexdiff. None is bundled in the standard TeXBB for Windows package. Installing or using one is optional and is governed by the license and terms supplied by that tool's distributor. TeXBB does not redistribute latexdiff; it only invokes a compatible executable that the user installed separately.

4. External PDF and document applications are not bundled

When the user chooses an external-open command, TeXBB asks Windows to launch the locally registered default application. Adobe Acrobat, web browsers, editors, and other external applications are not bundled with TeXBB and remain governed by their respective terms.

5. Bundled Typst compiler and components

Packages covered by this notice include the unmodified official Typst 0.15.1 Windows x64 compiler as typst/typst.exe. TeXBB invokes it as a separate command-line program. Typst is developed by Typst GmbH and contributors and is licensed under the Apache License 2.0. Its embedded fonts, code, syntax definitions, citation styles, and other third-party materials retain their respective licenses.

The bundled materials preserve the original licenses and copyright notices, including the conditions and exceptions for embedded fonts. The dependency inventory is a conservative superset and may include development or other-platform packages not linked into the Windows executable. Original source archives are included, including the editable New Computer Modern font sources and build instructions.

TeXBB's license does not replace or limit rights granted by these third-party licenses, including applicable rights to obtain source, copy, modify, or redistribute those components. See section 7 of the TeXBB End User License Agreement supplied with the app.

Typst Universe packages are not preinstalled by TeXBB. Optional package downloads are disabled by default and can be enabled in Settings. Separately downloaded packages have their own licenses and are not covered by the fixed inventory supplied with the compiler. The bundled compiler is updated through a TeXBB package update, not its self-update command.

6. Read the licenses and sources offline

In Windows versions with the bundled compiler, open Settings > About > Licenses to find TeXBB license, Third-party notices, and Typst licenses and sources in one place.

Typst licenses and sources opens the local index at typst/licenses/README.txt. The accompanying folder contains the full license and notice texts, dependency inventory, attribution information, and source archives. These materials are supplied with the app and can be read or copied to a writable folder for extraction without another purchase or internet connection.

Component versions and notices may change with a package update. For an older installed version without these entries, consult the legal notices supplied with that version rather than assuming that its package contains the components described here.
